Fall 2025: RiboClub, disc golf and ice cream!
Seven lab members attended the annual RiboClub conference in Orford and six graduate students presented posters. As always, it was an excellent week filled with new knowledge and networking.
A few weeks later, we took advantage of the fall colours to try a new lab activity, disc golf, followed by ice cream at the renowned Laiterie de Coaticook.

Transition from the winter to the summer semester
We celebrated the end of Marie-Lee and Louis-Philippe’s internship with a game of mini-golf followed by an outing to a restaurant. Thomas, our summer intern, joined us. Welcome to Thomas and our other summer interns, Marguerite and Simón!
A few days later, Louis-Philippe presented his internship project at the Research Center on Aging. His analogy between splicing and chicken was received with lots of laughter!
January 2025: Welcome to our winter interns!
Our winter interns, Marie-Lee and Louis-Philippe, are both undergraduate students in Biochemistry. Marie-Lee is returning for her second internship in the lab, while Louis-Philippe is pursuing his first internship and will learn the ropes of bioinformatics.
Khaoula’s departure and Simon’s birthday
We said farewell to Khaoula by returning to the Escaparium, followed by a nice restaurant dinner. A few days later, we celebrated Simon’s birthday over a delicious breakfast at Ben & Florentine.
Undergraduate Scientific Day
Marie-Lee, Khaoula and Alexia presented a poster at the FMSS Journée scientifique du 1er cycle (Undergraduate Scientific Day). Mathia stopped by to encourage them, and several of our graduate students contributed as poster judges.
September 2024: Shawn’s arrival and Isabela’s departure
Shawn is beginning an M.Sc. in Biochemistry. We took advantage of a lab outing to Pura Vida to celebrate his arrival and to say goodbye to Isabela after a successful internship!
June 2024: Arrival of Isabela and Alexia
Welcome to our new summer interns! Isabela, who is studying in biological sciences in Brazil, will spend a few months in our lab through the Mitacs Globalink research internship program. Alexia, a student at Bishop’s University, is doing an internship in Prof. Benoit Laurent’s lab and is co-supervised by Karine.
Journée Pivot 2024
Ibrahim, Louis-Philippe, Téa, Mathia and Simon presented a poster on their projects.
Congratulations to Mathia, who won the best poster award at the undergraduate level!
May 2024: Marie-Lee and Khaoula’s arrival
Welcome to our summer interns Marie-Lee and Khaoula! Marie-Lee is doing her first COOP internship, while Khaoula is completing an internship for the end of her degree in Biotechnological Engineering.
April 2024: Simon’s arrival and lab outing
Simon begins his M.Sc. in Biochemistry under the co-supervision of Prof. François Bachand. To celebrate his arrival and the end of Mathia and Téa’s internships, we went to the Escaparium and managed to escape with a few seconds to spare! We then grabbed a drink at Siboire.
January 2024: Arrival of Ibrahim, Salomé, Téa and Mathia
Ibrahim begins his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, while Salomé is starting her M.Sc. in Biochemistry under the co-supervision of Prof. Benoit Laurent. Téa and Mathia are doing their first COOP internship for their B.Sc. To celebrate their arrival, we all went to Ben & Florentine for brunch!
September 2023: Arrival of the lab’s first students
Louis-Philippe Chaumont begins his M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Charles Truax is doing a COOP internship for his B.Sc. in Mathematics. Both are co-supervised by Pr. Michelle Scott and will be working on the interplay between pre-mRNA alternative splicing and snoRNA maturation. Welcome Louis-Philippe and Charles!
August 2023: opening of the lab!
The Choquet lab opens its doors in the Department of Biochemistry and Functional Genomics at Université de Sherbrooke.
